Montero Lamar Hill , better known by his stage name Lil Nas X, is a hip-hop artist from Atlanta. He dropped out of his freshman year in college in 2018 to pursue music full time. On December 2nd, 2018, he released the hit “Old Town Road” which blew up through TikTok memes. It finally entered the Billboard Hot 100 in early March 2019. Old Town Road reached #1 on Spotify, iTunes and Apple Music as well as becoming the first song to simultaneously chart on the Billboard country and hip-hop/R&B charts, before it was disqualified from the country charts. 

Lil Nas x releasing this song caused a lot of controversy, within the country music community. Eventually Billy Ray Cyrus father of Miley Cyrus jumped on the song and showed people how diverse music can be. This song mashed Hip Hop/ And Country together .

Old Town Road is still #1 on the billboards for the 4th week.
